My sources of inspiration as a teacher

My sources of inspiration as a teacher are Paulo Freire, Eliana Yunes, Ana Mara Machado and Brookfield .
Paulo Freire inspire my practice as teacher because he defends that Education should make people reflect critically  about the social and political problems we face in the world in which we live in. The teacher and the students should reflect together about these problems.
Eliana Yunes is a literature professor at PUC-Rio, the university in Brazil where I studied Language and Literature in Brazil. She has been researching  about Reading and Literature for many years and she was my adviser in Master studies in Brazilian Literature. She taught me Literature ,reading theories , intertextuality.
Ana Maria Machado is a Brazilian writer. She defends that reading Literature is a right of every children . She also argues that teachers have to be readers and enjoy reading Literature in order to encourage their students to become readers and  to enjoy reading Literature too.
Reading Brookfield´s book Becoming a critically reflexive teacher made me realize how a teacher can improve his / her practice by listening to the students´ opinions, other teachers' views, reading theory  and use his /her  personal experience to make the teachers and the students critically reflect  about what they are teaching and what they are learning. After reading this book, I feel that I am more open to new ideas and different views about an issue.

My reflectoins about Scholarship

Based on Machado (2011) and Feire (1989 ). I want to discuss the importance of reading. Machado( 2011)  argues that reading improves people´s intelligence and creativity. Freire (1989 ) also discusses the importance of reading saying tthat we read the world before reading the word. The context and rhe reader´s experiences are important to interpret what we read . She also argues that children should read literature for pleasure that parents and teachers should also read literature enjoy reading it in order to motivate children to read it pleasantly. Machado (2001; 2011 ) also argues that every children has the right to read literature and to have access to this cultural heritage .Moreover , Almeida (2017 ) argues that literature is also important for the social, cognitive and emotional development of children. By reading literature, the reader discover new worlds, other cultures, new ways of thinking and acting (Almeida , 2017) Silva ( 2008) defends that literature is crucial to the cognitive development of children. Reading literature also makes people have a critical view of the world in which they live in. Reading literature makes the students think critically..
However, rhere is a serious issue in Brazil. There are many elementary school teachers who do not like reading and who are not readers and they don't read Literature so they can´t encourage their students to read with pleasure and to become readers. Many writers, specialists and teachers discuss this problem. The Brazilian writer Ana Maria Machado (2011) argues that when some Education students are doing an undergraduate Education course, they are taught to impose tasks to their future pupils and they do not study to appreciate Literature as an art and to read Literature pleasantly.  So, my research question is How can I make Brazilian undergraduate Education students realize that it’s very important that they are readers and enjoy reading Literature in order to encourage their future pupils enjoy reading Literature ?
As future teachers they need to be readers and enjoy reading Literature in order to encourage their future pupils to read Literature pleasantly.

Methodology
Bibliographical research and action research.
My reflections about scholarship and reading in the digital world
Brookfield (2017) discusses how we can become a critically reflexive teacher using four lens: the students’ 'views, the colleagues ' views, the personal experience and the theory. Brookfield´s book (2017) made me realize how a teacher can improve his / her practice by listening to the students´ opinions, other teachers' views, reading theory and use his /her personal experience to make the teachers and the students critically reflect about what they are teaching and what they are learning.
Freire (2013) also influences my view as a reflexive teacher  . He argues that students and the teachers and colleagues should dialogue and share their experiences. Freire (2013) also argues that the students and the teacher should be aware of the social and political problems we face in the society in which we live in. The group of students and the teacher should reflect crittically about the ipolitical and siocial ssues we face in the society and in which they live in.
. The digital world has changed the way people communicate with each other, research , read and write. We can access any kind of information at any time in a faster way (Pareja, 2013). But we have to select the information available in the internet. I adviset my students to research in university websites, academic journals and articles.
They can also visit digital libraries and access online bookshops and official writes websites in order to read and buy books.

My communty of precitice and my challenge

Machado (2011) defends that reading literature , newspaper and magazines makes people intelligent and instigates our imagination and makes people write better. She also argues that children should read literature for pleasure that parents and teachers should also read literature enjoy reading it in order to motivate children to read it pleasantly. Machado (2001; 2010 ) also argues that every children has the right to read literature and to have access to this cultural heritage .Moreover , Almeida (2017 ) argues that literature is also important for the social, cognitive and emotional development of children. By reading literature, the reader discover new worlds, other cultures, new ways of thinking and acting (Almeida , 2017) Silva ( 2008) defends that literature is crucial to the cognitive development of children. Reading literature also makes people have a critical view of the world in which they live in. Reading literature makes the students think critically.
Despite all these advantages that reading literature can give to children and students, there are some problems in Brazil . One of them is that some teachers are not readers and want to force the students to read and teach literature with boring and mechanical activities. As Almeida (2017) argues this wrong methodology must be abolished from Brazilian schools and children and teenagers should be motivated to read text and literature books pleasantly. The teachers should let their students read literary text and books for pleasure and the pupils need to be free to read texts and books which interest the students with no pressure for reading them (Almeida , 2017; Machado, 2011).

Research problem and question –My challenge

There is a serious issue in Brazil. My review about Brookfield´s Book

Brookfield, S . (2017) . Becoming a critically reflexive teacher. (2nd Edition). San Francisco: Jossey-Bass I
n this book, Stephen Brookfileld discusses how to become a critically reflexive teacher using four lens: the students’ 'views, the colleagues ' views, the personal experience and the theory, He also discusses hegemony, power relations in the classroom  and racism. In the second edition of this book, he also shows how social networks media can be used by the students and the share different views about an  issue debated in the class and discusses e-learning;

Brookfield´s book made me realize how a teacher can improve his / her practice by listening to the students´ opinions, other teachers' views, reading theory  and use his /her  personal experience to make the teachers and the students critically reflect  about what they are teaching and what they are learning. After reading this book, I feel that I am more open to new ideas and different views about an issue.
